Transgender Prisoners

Transgender individuals in prison face unspeakable brutality from other prisoners, corrections officers and from the prison system itself. The Sylvia Rivera Law Project in New York City has recently released a report titled "It's War In Here" on the issue. Regardless of what crime a person may have committed, there is no justification for the violence, sexual assault, humiliation, and denial of medical care that transgender prisoners face.
