Happy Fall, Interfaithfull!
The Massachusetts Trans Political Coalition is still planning to file a public accommodations bill in January, and we are increasingly excited about organizing the interfaith campaign to support it. Next year's faith campaign will probably be a lot like last year's – the biggest thing being a 2nd Trans Faith Action Week in the Spring (read about the 1st TFAW, April 2010: http://interfaithcoalition.blogspot.com/search?q=transgender+faith+action+week).
In the meantime, here’s how faith communities can get involved:
- Be part of the Fall (and Winter) conferences --
- MTPC & BAGLY’s Trans Youth & Parent Summit –- THIS SUNDAY September 16th in Cambridge MA (http://www.masstpc.org/events/trans-youth-summit/).
- The Translating Identity Conference -- Saturday October 13th in Burlington VT (http://www.uvm.edu/~tic/).

- Greater Boston PFLAG’s Pastoral Counseling for LGBT Youth & Their Families – Tuesday October 30th in Waltham MA (http://gbpflag.org/conference2012).
- The Transgender Religious Leaders Summit -- Thursday November 1st through Saturday November 3rd in Berkeley CA (http://www.clgs.org/events/2012TransSummit).
- First Event – Wednesday January 23rd through Sunday 27th in Peabody MA (http://www.firstevent.us).
- Participate in MTPC's 4th annual Trans Awareness Week (Monday November 12th through Monday November 19th) – including Trans Day of Remembrance (the international Day is Tuesday November 20th, Boston’s observance is Sunday November 18th at 4:00 -- at the Cathedral Church of Saint Paul (Episcopal) for the 3rd year in a row). - Share, use and submit faith-based video stories to MTPC's I AM: Trans People Speak project – we would love to have more trans people and allies of faith, both clergy and laypeople (http://www.transpeoplespeak.org/).
- Think about creating a faith-based version of MTPC’s “I <3 b="b" graphic="graphic" people="people" trans="trans"> (http://www.masstpc.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/MTPC-I-heart-small2.gif) with your faith / faith community’s symbol (“I/We {pentacle} Trans People”, “I/We {cross} Trans People”, etc.).
- Stay tuned as we create trans and allied interfaith discussion / social support groups.
- Help us improve and share our page on MTPC’s new website, coming soon.
