Pride At Work's Trans Month Of Action

Today being March 1st, it’s the first day of Pride at Work’s Trans Month Of Action for trans-inclusive healthcare -- a national campaign focusing on 10 cities, in partnership with SEIU National Lavender Caucus, National Center for Transgender Equality, and Transgender Law Center. And one of the faith connections is that Donna Cartwright, co-chair of P@W’s Transgender Caucus, is also in leadership at TransEpiscopal.

Trans Month of Action

On behalf of the Pride at Work, in collaboration with SEIU Lavender Caucus, the National Center for Transgender Equality, and the Transgender Law Center, we are writing you to invite you to join in our historic campaign to educate and organize for Transgender Health Benefits within the Labor movement.  During the month of March, our organizations are partnering to launch events in ten cities across the country. Local organizing committees of union and transgender community members will ask unions, labor councils and state federations to pledge to bargain for trans-inclusive health benefits and to sign a Trans Health Benefits Bargaining pledge form.

At the NGLTF Creating Change Conference in Atlanta last month, Pride at Work and SEIU Lavender Caucus leaders consulted with transgender leaders from across the country who are working on the transgender health benefits issue, and concluded that we should  focus on moving trans health benefits within the labor community.

This new campaign already has strong, deep support in the transgender community and from LGBT union members.  During this campaign, we will identify additional transgender activists around the country and create a network, collect stories from transgender folks and allies in targeted regions, and develop leadership capacity and member involvement in Pride at Work Chapters and Lavender Caucuses.
Please let us know if you would like to join in our actions by filling out this form

All the best,
Donna Cartwright and Gabriel Haaland
Co-Chairs of the Transgender Caucus, Pride at Work
